Good Boys flew under a lot of people’s radar, but it’s not without it’s charms. Three 6th graders get invited to a kissing party, which leads them on an epic journey to learn how to kiss, in this raunchy coming of age flick.
Pros: I was impressed with the chemistry of the three leads. Child actors can be hit or miss, but the casting director did their job and it shows. The children’s zany personalities and hilariously awkward interactions make them relatable, along with the themes of growing up and balancing friendship along with love and other passions.
Cons: This isn’t the first, nor the last, raunchy coming of age flick we’ve seen. While this movie does start off strong and have moments that work, the jokes get less witty throughout and some are even downright disgusting. And while the actors are fine, none of the characters are particularly good role models, save for Lucas played by Keith L. Williams.
I give Good Boys a B+. The leads have great chemistry, and while some events are exaggerated, it’s a fun ride nonetheless. As long as you know what you’re getting into, you won’t be disappointed. Happy Watching!
